Every Job We Created and Lost in the Last 5 Years—in 2 Graphs
An amazing thing about the health care sector is that it expanded at the same rate both approaching the unemployment trough and coming out of it. Government is the odd duck, growing as unemployment increased and shedding jobs as the economy grew.

Yep, and if Congress had passed President Obama’s jobs bill (the American Jobs Act) into law, two million jobs would’ve been created, and unemployment would’ve been reduced by a full percentage point. Does that make things perfect? No, of course not. But it would’ve been a start. President Obama isn’t a magician, for crying out loud. To expect him to just magically make everything better after George Bush screwed it up is stupid.
Anyway, ranting yet again. The recession really put us in a tough place—we can’t afford to be turning down proposals on job creation, here. But, Congress puts their political agenda ahead of the American people, because, as Senator Mitch McConnell (R) put it, his top priority, top priority (never mind our actual priorities), is making Barack Obama a one-term president. Wow, thanks a lot. Forget about those of us who rely on you idiots to help us out. So frustrating.
My point: Congress is killing job growth and recovery, and President Obama takes all the blame for it. Not cool.
